George Steinmetz, aerial photographer for National Geographic, needed a custom page to sell fine art prints within his existing website infrastructure built on PhotoShelter. This way he could display the layout he wanted without compromising for PhotoShelter's pre-existing templates.
I had to build this custom layout within PhotoShelter's HTML editor. This meant no custom JS or features and only inline styles. Even with those constraints I was able to provide his desired layout and make it responsive so it looked great on any device.
George already had a website, brand identity, and large following on Instagram to draw in visitors. I used the same fonts and color palette to blend the new page seamlessly with the rest of the website and brand identity.
To let the images shine we laid them on a plain white background with the captions below to give the user context. The result feels less like a web page and more like a gallery wall — letting the work sell itself.
Once live, George sold X prints. The page turned his existing Instagram audience into paying customers, giving collectors a direct path from discovery to purchase.
